Puerto Rico clips fifth place

TIJUANA, Mexico, July 10, 2010 – Puerto Rico claimed the fifth position of NORCECA Women’s Junior Volleyball Championship by defeating Canada in straight sets (25-18, 26-24, 25-19) in the first match on Saturday at Baja California High Performance Center Gym in Tijuana.

Puerto Rican Diana Reyes led the winners with 15 points, Genesis Collazo and Daly Santana each compiled 11 tallies and Keyla Rodriguez contributed 9 points. Canadians Lisa Barclay and Meaghan Robertson registered 12 and 10 respectively.

Argentina’s coach of Puerto Rico Alejandro Arconada said: “It was a very special match for us because it helped the formation process of our players, we faced a good rival, our game was improving and rising up day to day”.
